Jim Tracy, DDS, MA, CADC II, LAADC, CET II, CIP
Dr. Jim Tracy is a Board Certified Sociometrist and Psychodramatist, a nationally-recognized expert, speaker and educator in the area of impaired Health Care Professionals, and has been conducting Professional and Family Interventions for over 20 years. He provides extensive family case management and monitoring, has developed Professionals Programs and facilitates action-based family programs for some of the most respected treatment centers in the country.
Dr. Tracy practiced General Dentistry for 18 years before making a change to help Families through Systemic Family Interventions while continuing work in helping Impaired Health Professionals. His career in Interventions began with/through his own personal struggle with addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol. He originally became involved in conducting peer interventions on other addicted Dentists after he began his own recovery program in 1988.
Jim shares his method of providing a respectful, supportive, gentle, straightforward and honest process, which is handled with compassion, sensitivity and concern for the individual. His goal is to reduce anxiety for everyone involved and to improve communication, to help create a newly empowered family system in an environment that promotes self-constructive healthy choices.
Bill Maher, CIP, CADC, BRI II, ACI
Bill Maher, is a highly successful and innovative interventionist specializing in methods that address the effects of addiction on the whole family. Since 1989, Bill has provided intervention services, facilitating over 2,000 interventions nationally with a very high success rate for placing the addicted individual into treatment.
Maher brings personal experience to his work — he has been in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction for more than 25 years and is also a recovering food addict. A resident of Richmond, Virginia, Maher has close ties to the local recovering community. He provides intervention services to families in need from all over the country, but especially in the Mid-Atlantic Region, including Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and West Virginia.
Bill’s model of intervention is different from others because the addicted person is openly invited to attend. Family members and significant others learn about and discuss the affects of addiction. The meeting is organized in a way that allows the addicted person to lower their defenses, principally because the material is not directed at them, but rather to the family as a whole. We call it the “gentle, respectful intervention”.
